Dallas Water Projections 2020-2070

Population in Dallas and the rest of North Texas are continued to grow to almost double what they are now by 2070. As such the demand for the finite amount of water goes up over time, and in turn leaves an increasing amount per decade of water shortage. Shortage is the difference between what we have and what we need for daily drinking and other water dependent activities. Texas Water Development Board makes us aware of these numbers, and even lays out a water strategy that will have us avoid water catastrophe if successfully implemented and followed. The chances of this happening increase with public awareness. A Greener Dallas is one with a cleaner and adequate water supply. The following TWDB chart from texasstatewaterplan.org presents this Dallas, Texas water data clearly. Pay special attention to the bottom 2 lines indicating potential shortages and water supplies strategy to cover the shortage. The numbers are presented in acre-feet. One acre foot is equivalent to about 325,851 gallons of water.

“Simple, easy actions can protect the health of our water resources and help save drinking water supplies. There is not one individual who cannot help to make a difference to the health of the environment.”
